19th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Today we celebrate the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time is the time when we do ordinary things and we are expected to be only ordinary people. This is the best time for thinking about matters, which need a special consideration, as the spiritual matters are. But we need also the careful mind to recognize the things and the people /which are the extraordinary. In that time there are situations when we deeply think and then correctly recognize it.

The Holy Mass is one of that situation, we have the Liturgy of the Word when we consider the truth of our faith and we have the Liturgy of the Eucharist when we recognize our Lord and Master Jesus Christ in the form of bread and wine, which comes from heaven to feed us. We need only to be there present and involve in that situation with our heart, mind and all our forces.

Reflections

1 If you were one of the Jews and you knew well about Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph and Mary, what would be your reactions when you heard: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven?”
2 Recall your first Holy Communion, how did you feel when you received the Eucharist for the first time? Later on, do you still have the same feeling each time you receive the blessed Sacrament?
3 Why do we believe the Eucharist is really Jesus’ flesh?
