Today we celebrate the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In our lives is the time when we come to the Church for the worship of God and our own growth up in holiness. The Holy Mass is not only our duty but it is our privilege as aware Christian. It is our small step on the way to salvation – to heaven. This step is simply the consequence of our daily deeds. The sin is every time the obstacle on our way to salvation. We sin through our own fault, in our thoughts and in our words, in what we have done and in what we have failed to do. We can be saved only by God who can absolve us by the words and hands of the priest in the sacrament of penance at the beginning of the Holy Mass; but we have to really want this to happen to us.
The Eucharist is our time to break the obstacles in our lives, to see our future as a result of our past and present existence already saved by God. We come to that service not to fulfill our duty as a member of the Church but we come as a conscious Christian of our own future in heaven. Therefore we praise God for that future and we can get the holiness by His grace here and now.
