1st SUNDAY OF LENT

The mountain of temptation

Today we celebrate the 1st Sunday of Lent. The Lenten Season is the time of preparation for the feast of Easter, the anticipation of our own Resurrection.

The Lent is the time when we concentrate on our own integrity as a person who is both spiritual and physical. By the deeds of Lent which are: fast, almsgiving and prayer we are looking in our inside to find our covenant with God, to find our private sanctuary between us and God – our conscience.

Every time when we celebrate the Mass we go in the deepest Mystery of our Faith which are the suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During Lent season we use purple color as a typical color of the penance. We omit the Gloria and the Alleluia word during the Mass /to hear the full Glory and the Joyful Alleluia on Easter Sunday. The Lent season is like the examination of our conscience during the Mass, and is good to do it right now.

  • The Russian cosmonaut who, upon soaring into the heavens, radioed back to earth the news that he had found no trace of God, was simply speaking nonsense. God is neither sequestered in any particular space nor discoverable among a collection of cosmic objects. (Robert Barron – Catholicism)
