1st SUNDAY OF ADVENT – Hope

Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent. Today’s Sunday offers us the example of John the Baptist for pointing on Jesus Christ to others around us. Our today’s situation is different: we are not looking for God, more God is looking for us in our world. He calls us each time to change our hearts, especially in this Advent season and in this year.

The Eucharist is the place where we meet Jesus – it is like the desert where they live the godly people as St. John the Baptist. In this place when we go on in the prayer’s silence, we can let God to find us in our private lives.

“John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance.”

Reflections

St. Paul instructs us that gratitude and thanksgiving are foundational to what our communities are to be. Think about it: Our primary gathering each week is called “Eucharist,” which means thanksgiving. We do as our Savior instructed us to do: we give thanks. The whole life of our parish should be a Eucharist.
