Today we celebrate the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In that time nothing can give us more trust and courage than to know that someone loves us deeply. Faith is really the trust and conviction that God loves us. When we are aware of this love there is no more room for any fear. People with deep faith are not afraid of professing that faith and of speaking out and committing themselves to all that this faith and love implies.
We ask Jesus in this Eucharist by which we praise the Lord our God to fill us with faith and love and so to take all fear away from us.
“What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light.”

One Main Point
Do not be afraid. Jesus repeated that 3 times. We need not fear mere human beings. We should fear God alone.
Reflections
- Examine my fears. What are they? What do I have to hide, and from whom?
- What is the worst possible case when everyone knows my bad secrets?
- Ask Jesus to explain what he means to me when he repeatedly says “do not be afraid.”
- Do I experience new freedom in God’s honor rather than human beings’?
