21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time. And today we have a very important question of faith to respond: Who is Jesus for me? He is my boss, or he is a stranger maybe my friend, or an oppressor.

Today in the Gospel we have the exact response for this question. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, our Lord and Savior and the complete sense of our life.

Each Eucharist is also the exact response for this question of faith. We pray in this worship to the living God, we are in the community with others, and we meet real Jesus, who is truly God and truly man. Sometimes we forgot about him, sometimes we are afraid of him. But first of all, Jesus needs us as rocks for His Holy Church, even we are the smallest and weak one.

“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church.”

MY MISSION: When I am the disciple of Christ and the member of his Church I realize this and participate in all matters which concern Him. The Ordinary Time and the Sunday’s Masses are not my challenge but my privilege.

One Main Point

Peter makes his declaration of faith in Christ. Jesus appoints Peter as the leader of the Church as well as the gatekeeper of the kingdom of heaven.

Welcome Our Visitors

We welcome all our visitors who are present with us for worship this Sunday! Please introduce yourself to the Pastor after Mass. Please write your names in the guest book located in the vestibule of the church. Please remember that you are always welcome to join us in worship at Holy Cross Church.

Reflections

  1. If Jesus comes and asks me who he is, how would I answer? If someone asks me who Jesus is, how do I explain?
  2. Jesus called Peter to be the leader of his Church. In what role does Jesus call me to be?
  3. Imagine myself being present at Caesarea Philippi among the apostles; how does Jesus react (gesture, facial expressions, tone) to Peter’s answer? How do the apostles react when Peter is named the leader of the Church?
  4. Put myself in Peter’s position; what will I do for the Church?
