Today we celebrate the 5th Sunday of Easter. This Sunday gives us the special example of our relationship with Christ – this is the metaphor of the vine and its branches.
Today Jesus tells us that something similar applies to our relationship with him: we are the branches; he is the vine. As long as we are joined with him, we will develop and produce more fruits. If a Christian separate himself or herself from Jesus, he or she will simply wither and die.
The Eucharist, which we celebrate, is the time of bearing fruit. Here and now, we proclaim our faith to the others and God our Father grafts ourselves in the death, and resurrection of our Master Jesus Christ.
“I am the true vine and my Father is the vinegrower.”
