Today we celebrate the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time and Pre-Lent Septuagesima Sunday. And two days ago, we had Valentine’s Day.
The Readings from the Ordinary Time leads us to understand the real price of our faith and the real cost of it. We are thinking that our efforts are great, but when we look at the first age of the Church, 2000 years ago; we realize that they really struggle for the faith in Jesus Christ.
The beatitudes by St. Luke are the focus on the faith which is the very important matter on the world. We can hear from Jesus that we will be blessed when we are in the worse part of the society or when for the sake of Jesus, we are there. We can spend a lot of money and a lot of our forces for the name of Jesus /and after that we will get the reward in the heavenly Bank for sure.
The Eucharist is like the viewing of our heavenly account: we see the amount which we can spend for others, we also see the deficit of our good deeds. The beatitudes are the essence of our faith but also the test of it.

“Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.”

Reflections
1 In what way are you rich or poor today?
2 Which of the promises means the most to you? Why?
3 With which woe do you most identify with at the moment? Why?
One Main Point
Jesus’ Beatitudes are words of consolation and also are moral qualities that we should strive to achieve.
